Our Vision
To see that not one leave Matagorda County Jail without having a chance to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
.
Our Mission

To exhibit the love of Our Lord Jesus Christ as we instruct inmates in basic Christian principles, so that souls many be saved and discipleship begin.

Who We Are
South Texas Prison Outreach (S.T.P.O.) is a locally based, interdenominational organization composed of Christian men and women who share a common desire to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the prisons of America.S.T.P.O. was founded in 1994 and is an established 501 (c) (3).

What We Believe
  • The apparent inability of our prison system to rehabilitate inmates creates a “revolving door” effect which concerns us greatly. We believe that effective rehabilitation of inmates can only begin when a spiritual change has been accomplished through Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that God is the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and earth: and that Jesus Christ is His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered and was crucified, dead and buried; the third day He rose again from the dead, He ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of God.We believe in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting.
  • “He (the Lord) forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases: He redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with love and compassion.” Psalm 103:3-4
What We Do
S.T.P.O. members conduct weekly Bible studies with male and female inmates at the Matagorda County Jail.  We make available to each inmate the Bible “Free On The Inside” and the devotional “Our Daily Bread”.  Many also volunteer in a wide range of other ministry activities such as inmate Bible studies at area state prisons, conducting worship services in both county and prison facilities and inmate pen-pal discipleship.   Additionally many members participate in activities organized by Mike Barber Ministries, Prison Fellowship and Bill Glass Ministries.
